Cool Math Classes

Cool Math Classes isn't just about solving equations; it's about fostering a deep love for math. Our students evolve into math enthusiasts who effortlessly apply their skills to everyday scenarios. As they progress, they develop strong mental math abilities and gain a comprehensive grasp of mathematical concepts. Beginner: Problem Solving

5-6th

Number sense and operations, strategy games, logical reasoning, math tricks and hands on activities and puzzles, advanced math terms and concepts, intro to various math contests and practices.

Advanced: Special topics

6-8th

Contest topics: Speed, work, book, clock, handshake, cryptarithm, certainty, logic. Contest prep. Note: Online on Wednesday, in person on Friday.

Contest topics: Counting paths, shapes, diff. of squares, divisibility, faster arithmetic methods, defining functions, patterns, right triangles, answering w/o solving. Contest practice.

Geometry basics, triangles, polygons, quadrilaterals, circles and theorems, Pythagorean Triples, Area of polygons, 3-D solids, Euler's formula, volume and surface area of prisms, pyramids and sphere.

Cool Math proudly showcases our students as active contenders in a range of national and international math competitions, including Math Olympiads, Math Kangaroo, and Noetics, among others. Their accomplishments are a direct reflection of the problem-solving strategies they've mastered, the rigorous problem sets they've tackled, and, not to be overlooked, the unwavering family support that propels them forward.

For 8th grade or younger, 25 problems, 40 minutes, multiple choices. The test will be in person under supervision by Cool Math's proctors. Past tests here.

Math Olympiads

Cool Math students $60 for 5 tests, non Cool Math students $80. Non-refundable for no show.

Two divisions, elementary (up to 6th grade) and middle (up to 8th grade). Compete with students from around the world. Five tests, each consists of 5 questions, held monthly from November to March. 30 minutes for each test. Scores are accumulated and several awards are given. See MOEMS for details. Tests are online.

Restriction: You can only participate with Cool Math if your own school is not hosting it.

Noetic

National tests held in Fall and Spring for students in grades 2-8. Each test is 45 minutes long and consists of 20 problems. Various awards are given to each grade for each test. See Noetic for details.

Math Kangaroo

Annual national test for 1st to 12th graders. 75 minutes for 24 to 30 questions depending on grade level. Each level consists of two grades 1-2 gr, 3-4 gr etc. Several state and national awards are given. Very well recognized and many countries have their own Kangaroo contest.
